This Is Our Independence Day!!!

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Ah, Independence Day. There's nothing more patriotic than watching a giant mothership blowing up our nation's capital...

In Avon, CO., they can’t wait to blow stuff up. That’s why, on July 3, thousands of people gather at Nottingham Park for the Salute to the USA celebration, which boasts the Rocky Mountains’ biggest firework display.

Unfortunately, I had to work last night and missed the whole thing. But Kat got to go and took some awesome pics using her Casio Exilim G* that served her well in Australia. (Those pics are coming soon, I’ll be posting them over several days after the holiday.)

Good morning and Happy Fatherhood Friday to everyone! I am very excited to have my good friend, Ron Mattocks, author of the wildly popular fatherhood memoir, Sugar Milk, here for a guest post. Imagine for a moment that we are from  another planet. Our society has evolved to one of peace and science. Through our progress, however, we have all but destroyed our home planet, reducing it to a mechanized desert wasteland with hardly any organic life.

I Did It! My Submission For the Worldwide Moment of Peace

I was at the farmer's market in Glenwood Springs, CO when the moment of peace happened. I was going to capture the bustling market, but come on, look at this face!

Well, here it is: my submission for the Worlwide Moment of Peace. I really did intend to get a shot of the farmer’s market. I felt that showing local farmers, bakers, and artisans would definitely encapsule the notion of world peace.

But then I started taking shots of my daughter, and all that fell to the wayside. What better way to represent world peace than by presenting the next generation?

It seems that it’s always on the weekend that I post about children’s entertainment. That’s probably because that’s when we generally watch movies!

Last night’s selection was ‘Dragon Hunters‘, a French computer generated feature film originally titled ‘Chasseurs De Dragons’.
