Phone booth, glasses, last of his kind... OMG! The Doctor is Superman!

It truly is amazing how a silly T.V. show can get you to thinking about life.

I am currently in mourning. I’m mourning the loss of a fictional character. What makes this behavior on my part even worse, is that said fictional character has the ability to ‘regenerate’, causing him to live, albeit in varying forms, possibly forever.

Yesterday, I lost the Doctor.

It wasn’t a surprise. I knew it was the end. The rest of the world has already mourned and moved on. They’re enjoying Matt Smith, I’ve seen the tweets.

I wouldn’t classify myself as OCD. I’ve never been diagnosed or anything. But I do have a compulsion to, anywhere I go, check out the book and magazine racks. I don’t generally buy anything, I just look at how books are arranged. What are the bestsellers? What genres are adjacent to each other? I suppose it’s the wannabe writer in me doing market research. (Apparently, vampires are HOT right now…)

Fiction Friday: Talent In The Family Addition!

Wednesday night, my fifteen year old step-daughter presented a story that she had written for a science fiction class. The assignment was to write a 100 word story based on themes found in George Orwell‘s 1984. The class chose ‘fear’:

     She finds herself walking down an endless hall. The only light is a few candles. Hears footsteps turning to see a girl. Her face like blank paper. Gripping a knife, running towards her. She runs, the walls narrow, enclosing her. Thick red liquid drips from the ceiling down the walls. Drenching her arms and dress.
