World, Get Ready For Tristin. Tristin, This Is The World.

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Wow.

I am blogging to you live from a post-partum room at Valley View Hospital. My wife sleeps beside me, and so does my newborn son.

World, I am pleased to present Tristin Hero Howe. He was born at 1:45am on August 15, 2009. He weighed 6lbs. 14.5oz and was 21.5in long. And might I say he is one handsome little devil.

My head is on fire with so many emotions. I am so proud of my son, whose middle name started as a joke, and wound up being so entirely appropriate.

I’m Climbing the Walls!

I think I’ve mentioned before that we have become more active at the rec center lately. We at least swim there almost every day. When our schedules allow, my wife and I drop Calli, the two year old, off at the child sitting service, workout for an hour, pick the little one back up and go swimming. We always have a good time. (I’ve gotten rather adept at reading comics while on the stationary bike!)

Preparing For The Little One: The Mental Stage

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Monday, we went for an ultrasound at 24 weeks. As long as everything goes well, this will be the last pictures we see of the little tyke until he is born. It got me to thinking about all the preparation that occurs when one is having a baby.

scannedimage-41As I tweeted earlier today, my wife had her 13th week sonogram today, Friday the 13th. Our appointment was at 1:00PM., or for those of you keeping score: 1300 hours! Eek!

When I told friends about this appointment, a lot of them told me that they would change the appointment. Why? If I got three numbers aligned on a slot machine…

Well, as you can see in my opening photo, there was nothing unlucky about today. In fact, it was just about perfect.

DO NOT EAT PEANUT BUTTER!

Who’da thunk it?

Really, who would have thought that we would be afraid of peanut butter? Salmonella? Are you kidding me? What do I feed my daughter for lunch now? As if it wasn’t bad enough that the economy has me crimping my food budget as it is, now I can’t buy THE STAPLE kid food? Really?

Could this really cause someone to rape you? Hmmm....

Could this really cause someone to rape you? Hmmm....

Today, we paid another visit to Dr. Werner’s office. This time around, it was just a normal checkup. Today we actually got an ‘official’ due date! Or, as official as this sort of thing can be…

My wife had guessed that she is due on August 21, according to the last ultrasound, the date is August 22, and from counting from the LMP (Last Menstrual Period), the date is August 24. Our previous kids ran over time, so I’m placing my bet now on the 28th.
