To those of us that are not Mormon, we see them as a mystery, and a lot of us see them as a nuisance. Yet when the Mormons came calling to my home, I let them in to my home three times! But before I tell you about that, please allow me to define what I mean by my new ‘Sunday Sermon’ feature here at Howefitz Blog.

I’m calling this feature ‘Sunday Sermon’, but it’s anything but a sermon. To me, a sermon implies someone will stand at a pulpit and relay his or her interpretation of a religious document as if their interpretation were the complete truth. Furthermore, they would expect you to buy  in to their interpretation and take it on as your own.

I’ve spent all morning working on today’s post, well, the bits of the morning where I wasn’t taking The Teenager to school. Then there were the times I was holding the baby, which is a chore, let me tell you. Every time I hold that warm little snuggly body against me I can’t help thinking that I’d much rather be in front of my glaring blank white computer screen instead of throwing the baby in to the air and hearing his sweet, genuine giggle as I tickle under his ribs with my nose. Who wants that?

The aforementioned teenager swears that she wasn’t wearing the wrist strap while playing ‘Skateboard Arena’ on the Wii Fit, and accidentally slipped. I need your help in determining whether there is any truth to this, or if there are more holes in her story than a pound of Swiss cheese.

I recently read a wonderful post by Ron Mattocks at Clark Kent’s Lunchbox about what our hopes teach our children about their futures. Using Martin Luther King‘s ‘I Have A Dream’ speech as a catalyst, Ron tells us stories of his father and the effects his father had on his life and parenting style. It’s great. I have already reviewed Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but at that time, I had only seen one episode. That was over a year ago, and as I’ve continued to watch the show, I’ve become more enthralled with it’s family atmosphere. Not just in the ‘no one cusses or makes a lot of innuendos’ sort of family atmosphere, but a genuine sense of family among the characters.

All geeking out aside, I have been taking a lot of time to reflect on where I am as a husband, father, employee, and of course, Daddy Blogger. Since you are reading my blog, I am going to focus first on what I will be doing here going forward in this brand-spanking new year, and why you should keep reading!
